Plotting Princess for the day-Stacy Green & Into the Dark

The PP Gals Welcome Stacy Green!
And stay til the end for the special announcement.

Hey, Stacy!

How did you get from your day job to writing romance?  Well, my day job has been a stay at home mom/child care provider since 2006. I’d given up writing years ago, but once I had more time to myself, I started writing again and slowly the book emerged.

What are your three favorite books of all time? Just three? Anne Rice’s Queen of the Damned, Thomas Harris’s Silence of the Lambs, Bronte’s Jane Eyre.

Morning, afternoon, or evening person? Evening, but my daughter’s schedule forces me to be a morning person.

Music--with or without? What kind? Depends on my mood. If I listen to music when writing, it’s usually mellow, like Snow Patrol, The Fray, Tori Amos.

The PP welcomes Lynn Cahoon & The Year of Time

The Year of Time
For the past few years, it seems like I’ve had a focus.  In 2006, we moved from Idaho to Illinois, so it was the year of change.  2007, the year of cancer. Which made 2008, the year of fun.

This year, I’m scheduled to present three different sessions on time management for writers or how to find that 25th hour in the day. So, I’m taking the hint.  2013 is the year of time.
Does't thou love life? Then do not squander time, for that is the stuff life is made of. –Ben Franklin.
I’m taking a step backward for January and looking at my commitments and schedule for the year. What do I want to do? And how much time do I have available to dedicate to that goal?
Sounds like resolutions.
And I guess, it kind of is.  But I’m talking more about allocating resources.  Your money, your talents and your time are all resources that are yours to spend wisely or foolishly.

A SNEAK PEEK AT WHERE THE MAGIC HAPPENS - by Kathy Ivan

Everybody's been unwinding from a busy and hectic holiday season, and I'm no different. I just got the rest of my Christmas decorations put away today and it's the middle of January! I am already falling behind. Trying to come up with a blog post for today . . . well my brain completely shut off. Couldn't think of a single thing I thought would interest people coming to the PP blog.

Then it hit me. Literally. My spiral bound calendar fell off the corner of my desk and landed on my foot, a clear indication something had to be done with the stacks and stacks of stuff sitting on my desk.

Let me explain. I work a full time job in addition to writing. But I'm one of the "lucky" ones who can work from home. I'm basically on the computer all day long. I work at the computer. I write at the same computer. It is pretty much my constant companion. So I thought I'd share with you my writing space.

Blog: PP Vicki Batman--I'm Ready for Summer!

I'm Ready for Summer

This morning, I woke up to snow. Now, some of you might say that's typical, and it probably is in your part of the world. But in mine, snow is a treasure.

I'm a pretty good weather watcher. I know the weather people aren't always perfectly accurate, but we're talking weather here. An Act Of God! Somebody else has the power and it isn't the weather people.

I'd risen early to go to my workout. And while the dogs went out for their morning business was when I noticed what I first thought was rain, sleet, and ultimately, snow.

A little snow won't stop me. I have a four-wheel drive vehicle! I can put my car on the lean and mean streets and get anywhere.

This morning, I wound along the lake road to my friend's house. There were so few cars out. The street was coated in the white stuff. The snow was flying fast and furious. I even turned on the fog lamps.

Michelle Miles: Why I Write Paranormal and Fantasy Romance

I have a confession to make. I didn’t become a voracious reader until I was in my early twenties.

Okay, that’s not exactly true either. I don’t think I was ever a voracious reader.

I chose books that grab me from the first page and don’t let go until the last. I prefer to read series because I like visiting with the same characters, even if the hero/heroine are different. I like being in that world. I’m a picky reader.

But one thing I can definitely say that has always—and will always—capture my imagination are fantasy worlds. I started reading fantasy in high school. I loved (and still do) the books by Patricia McKillip. She has this wonderful way of weaving fantastical stories that draw the reader in and keep the reader guessing. One of my favorites by her is Alphabet of Thorn. I’ve read it over and over.

Princess Jillian Burns has a crush on... Read this!

A Special day!
Jillian Burns is in the house &
(sing a long) there's a giveaway!!!

Welcome, Jillian & Relentless Seduction.

Last year, I blogged a lot about all the Non- Americans I had a crush on. It seemed like all my heroes had an accent. Christian Bale, Hugh Jackman, Russell crow, Daniel Craig, Eric Bana, and Clive Owen. But today I’m here to bring it back to the good old U.S. of A. Finally, an American actor I can sink my teeth into. So to speak.

A couple of years ago, I started watching an old TV show I’d completely missed when it was actually airing on primetime: ROSWELL. I rented the 3 seasons on DVD and could hardly stand to stop watching. I’d stay up until the wee hours of the night enthralled with the story line and the characters, and the romance. But I have to admit, it was mostly due to the actor who played the teenage alien, Max, Jason Behr.

Isn’t he a cutie? In Roswell he is SO romantic, so handsome, so sweet and yet so strong. Jason hasn’t made a lot of big blockbuster movies since that show. Mostly, he seems to choose quirky, small budget films, or niche horror flicks. But he is such a sexy, angsty guy in Roswell that I had plenty of inspiration for my latest Blaze hero, Rafe Moreau. This is how I picture Rafe in Relentless Seduction.

Resolutions

I know that everyone is thinking about Resolutions and what they're going to change in 2013. I'm sure most of us are starting a new diet, trying to get healthier, saving money or just trying to be nicer in the new year.
But how did you do on last years resolutions? Did you meet your goals? I had a hit and miss kind of year.  I lost ten pounds and then I gained every bit of it back. Yes, it's once again sitting around my mid-section jiggling for all the world to see. So once again that's on the 2013 list.
