Do You Love Bad Boys?

As a writer and a reader one of my favorite types of plot is changing a bad boy into a guy that falls in love. I like to take a strong heroine who sort of knocks the bad boy on his knees. When I say bad boy, I don’t mean someone who is abusive or criminal, but rather a guy who you know deep down is really a good guy, but he’s just got some tendencies that need to be tamed.

In my new novel, The Relationship Coach, just released last Friday...I hope I’ve done that. I love Reed Hunter, but as far as my hero's go, he’s out there. He uses women for his own purposes and never intends to get married. So when he and his boss get dumped after their girlfriends attend my Relationship Coach’s Twelve Steps of Dating Seminar, Reed is out for blood. Her blood. As a documentary filmmaker he has the tools to either promote or destroy her business.
Come along for the fun ride where my bad boy gets knocked to his knees and Lacey Morgan learns the value of passion in The Relationship Coach.

IT'S ROUND ROBIN TIME!!! by Kathy I van

We haven’t done this in a long time so I thought it was time to do one again.
It's Round Robin time!!!

The rules are simple – Read the first paragraph then add your own spin in the comment section. (That means you have to click on the comments link directly beneath this post sand see if someone else has added to the story. Then just jump in and write your part.

You can come back as many times as you'd like and add as much as you want. Write a sentence. Write two. Write a paragraph. It's all up to you. The only caveat—please keep it PG rated, since we are an open blog and the little ones might read it. (Hey you never know who is looking at or reading these things LOL.)

We'll keep it going as long as you keep writing or until Wednesday night at midnight. So, make it unique, make it funny, make it scary, make it paranormal or whatever you want, just have fun!

HERE'S THE STORY:

#PlottingPrincesses # @VickiBatman - A Laugh a Minute

Laugh a Minute

You may have noticed my tagline: Vicki Batman, sassy writer of sexy and funny fiction.

I never thought of myself as being funny until a friend said something. I was like me? Really? I'd always appreciated books with humor.  And when another friend pressed in my arms #4 Janet Evanovich, I sighed with contentment after I read it, thinking someone who wrote what I liked to read. Naturally, I gobbled all of them up.

When I began writing, I noticed funny words crept in my work. And so did creepy witty dialogue. And I played havoc with internal dialogue. And found smiley faces in the edits.

After several of my short fictions were published in the True magazines, I let my girlfriends read them and watched and listened for their reactions. I saw smiles, snorts, giggles, ha's, etc. I knew then I'd done my job and done it right.

Finding a good funny word doesn't usually come through on my first draft. I have to work it-work it-work it. And when I go back later on and read what is there and it makes me smile--even after multiple thousands a gazillion passes—then I know all was done correctly.

So here's a treat from my funny romantic suspense/mystery, Temporarily Employed (coming soon!).

Vicki Batman: When I Fell in Love

When I Fell in Love

NO! not with Handsome. I'll save that story for another day. This is about when I fell in love with romance books.

Around age fourteen, I was totally bored. School was out. Didn't have anything special going on. I'd read everything I'd wanted to read.

My mom noticed and asked what was up. When I told her, she said, "Go read something." "But what?" I whined. She fastened on me a long stare and then reached for a small paperback on the shelf where she stashed her handbag. "Try this."

This turned out to be a romance by Emilie Loring.

Bumper Stickers

Okay, yes they're a little dorky sometimes but as much time as I spend in traffic, I've always enjoyed reading bumper stickers. That 12x5 piece of paper on the back of a car tells a lot about the person whose driving.  I'm not talking about the ones that say My Fifth Grader is an Honor Student at Nosedive Elementary School. I'm talking about the ones that say My Rottweiler is Smarter Than Your Honor Roll Student. Now what kind of person is driving around with that kind of bumper sticker? I would think it would be on the back of a truck, not a car and the guy driving would be large and in charge.

Who writes these? Do they get paid? Did you know bumper stickers could be ordered online?  Here are a few I thought were interesting and clean enough that I could share.
