Plotting Princesses ~ Who is our guest today?? MaryAnn Kempher!!!

The PP girls welcome guest author MaryAnn Kempher to our blog. Let's check her out:

How did you get from your day job to writing romance and mystery?   I was in the military for 20 years. I retired in 2007 and was lucky to have to luxury of staying home vs going back to work. For the first year I relished the role of stay-at-home wife and mother, but soon needed more. Finally after a lot of thought, I decided to write my first book; Mocha, Moonlight, and Murder—a romantic mystery set in Reno.

Three favorite books of all time? That’s a hard question. Pride and Prejudice, Gone With the Wind, and Light a Penny Candle. But honesty, I love to read, so those were just off the top of my head.

Morning, afternoon, or evening person? I’m a morning person, once I’ve had my coffee. ;)

Music--with or without? What kind? Do I listen to music when I write? Nope, ideally I have complete quiet.

First or third POV? Oh, third all the time.

How's tricks? Do you juggle multiple projects? I don’t juggle multiple books, but my plate is full. I’m trying to finish my bachelor’s degree, so soon I be writing book three, taking two classes, and reading five books for a contest I’m helping to judge.

#PlottingPrincesses welcome @ReeseRyan! & Making the First Move

Howdy, Reese, and welcome to the PP.
Put on your tiara and let's have some fun!

Reese Ryan writes sexy, contemporary fiction filled with colorful characters and sinfully-sweet romance. She secretly enjoys torturing her heroines with family and career drama, reformed bad boys, revealed secrets, and the occasional identity crisis, but always rewards them with a happily ever after.

Born and raised in the Midwest, she now resides in Central North Carolina with her husband and young adult son who tolerate her propensity to sing and dance badly. A self-proclaimed Bohemian Southern Belle, she treads the line carefully between being a Northerner and a damned Yankee–despite her insistence on calling soda pop. Reese gauges her progress by the number of “bless your lil’ hearts” she gets each week. She is currently down to two.
What are your three favorite books of all time? Pride & Prejudice, Little Women, and Water for Elephants

Morning, afternoon, or evening person? I’ve learned that I work best in the early hours of the morning. Unfortunately, I don’t always go to sleep early enough to take advantage of this fact.

Music--with or without? What kind? I write with music most of the time. My musical taste is very eclectic. What I’m listening to is determined by either my mood, or the mood I want to set in the scene. I listen to everything ranging from Classical & Jazz to Rock and Hip-hop.

New Princess Here!

Hello! *waving* Thanks for having me on the blog today. As one of the newer Princesses, Kathy sent me some interview questions to help me get to know all you loyal Plotting Princess followers! Yay for interview questions. Here's hoping my answers are interesting, if not charming.

How did you get from your day job to writing romance?
I’d always written, here and there. But I started, devoting most of my free time to my demanding characters, about 2 1/2 years ago. Writing helped me through a period of transition and grief – it helped me cope in a productive way.

What are your three favorite books of all time? I’m going to mention my 3 favorite romance novels – I have too many books that I loveOutlander – Diana GabaldonHeather and Velvet – Teresa MedeirosLily of the Nile (Song of the Nile too) – Stephanie Dray – she’s up for a RITA this year by the way (fingers crossed)

Morning, afternoon, or evening person? As a mom of four – I’m an ANYTIME writer.

Music--with or without? What kind?I believe in the power of a book soundtrack. For my Hollywood Contemporaries – I stick with Nora Jones, Michael Buble, that kind of stuff. For my Romantic Fantasies I use movie soundtracks – Gladiator, Immortals, Spartacus, you know, epic, moody stuff. I need music to really hammer out the pages.

First or third POV?Interestingly enough – contemporary in 1st and fantasy in 3rd. Don’t know why – it’s just worked that way so far.

Get to Know: Patti Yager Delagrange - Moon Over Alcatraz

A big Plotting Princess Kiss-Kiss to Patti!
Patti Yager Delagrange

How did you get from your day job to writing romance?  I love this question.  In 2009 my daughter came home from school and told me that her friend asked her why her mommy didn’t work.  I had been a stay-at-home mom since becoming pregnant with my son in 1993.  This incident made me pause and think about my life.  I had more free time since my two kids were older and a bit more independent, so I went to the Apple store, bought a MacBook and wrote my first novel.

What are your three favorite books of all time? Bridges of Madison County, The Notebook, and The Horse Whisperer.

Morning, afternoon, or evening person? I love the evening when I can relax and be with the family, watch my favorite television programs and just chill.

Music--with or without? What kind? I love silence when I’m writing or reading.  I love silence period.  I listen to almost all my music when I’m riding my bike during “exercise time” every day and in the car.  I love Chris Brown, Chris Botti, Rob Thomas, Maroon Five, Justin Bieber.  I’m all over the map with music!
