I need a #Hero

I admit it.
I love Thor-his bulging muscles. His manners. His charm. Well, I love the Chris Hemsworth version of Thor.
Actually, I love Chris Hemsworth. Yes, he is handsome. But it’s so much more than that. Over time I’ve come to appreciate that a hero isn’t just someone strong and capable of handling a stressful or chaotic event--and looks good doing it. No, a hero is so much more. Mr. Hemsworth persona (since I don’t actually know him I can’t affirm that he is as good as he looks/seems) is my ideal hero.

For me, a hero is someone unwavering in his devotion to his wife and children. His sense of humor is contagious—but his laughter isn’t the result of someone else’s misfortune. He’s not afraid to show his emotions to those he’s closest to. His strength is daunting but he uses it for good. He’s kind, lifting up those that are downtrodden. And he has passion.

As far as Hollywood goes, I would say Liam Neeson and Hugh Jackman also warm the cockles of my heart.

When I’m writing, I find myself using these traits when I develop my own heroes. But I know my idea of a hero might be different than yours. So, as I’m always looking for new hero sources, I want to know:

Who is your hero? Or, what traits do you consider most heroic in your book and film characters?

I can’t wait to hear your thoughts.
And, yes, I know heroes can be female too, so sound off. :)

Oh, and, Happy Thorsday!

Love the post! You've got the right idea to use those traits you like in actors and translate them to your own writing.

A great post! I like my heroes to be smart with great repartee with the heroine. As for my fav, probably James Bond or Bugs Bunny. LOLOL

I LOVE IT...I love your theme....I love this man and use him also for many of my fictional heros. You hit the nail right on the head when describing the qualities for a hero...Geez, girl, you are right on target!

My husband is my hero <3! He is always the first one to offer to help..even strangers. He rented a U-haul and helped someone he never met load donated items and then we drove 3 hours one way to deliver it to a family we had never met in person, that had lost everything in a house fire. That is just one of the many things he has done. He is very supportive of me and our children and grand children. We have both stepped up and accepted custody of our 4 grand children while our son and his wife get their lives together and heal from this demon disease named addiction.

Happy Thorsday to you! I agree with all the things you outlined for a hero. Smart, funny, caring are all good attributes. Loyalty, fidelity, and a great sense of humor. Throw in a sexy accent and you've created the ideal hero. :-)

Great post!
