PP shares a tiara with Terri Rochenski & Christmas Magic

A happy tiara wearing day
to Terri Rochenski!
Let's get to know
all about her.

How did you get from your day job to writing romance? I gave up the day job when I had daughter #1 four years ago. It was the best job move EVER. Now, I’m a stay-at-home mom, and I steal minutes here & there for writing whenever my two girls allow.

What are your three favorite books of all time? Tough question. I’ve read all of Lisa Kleypas’s books at least twice, a few I’ve pulled off the shelf more times than that. Stephanie Laurens also has a shelf in my home. I’ve read some of hers more than once as well. I adore fantasy as well – LotR, WoT series, SoT series. Have all of those. Read them more than once as well. Honestly I love so many books. Not sure I can pinpoint any particular one.

Morning, afternoon, or evening person? Morning all the way. My girls wear me out by 4pm. Some days I don’t even make it that long!

Music--with or without? What kind? Without. I enjoy silence, but I rarely get it. When given the chance I turn off everything but a single lamp & sit w/ my clipboard & pen. Yes, I write by hand first. When I’m in the mood for music I’ll listen to country or some Italian opera.

First or third POV? Funny you should ask this. I’m currently planning another historical romance and I’m struggling with this very question. I’m a huge fantasy fan & in that genre I prefer 3rd. With romance, I like 1st to get a better emotional connection, but then we’re limited to only that single PoV. Hmmm. What to do. What to do.

Lisa Kleypas rocks 3rd omniscient. It’s probably my favorite for romance. Wish I had her skills!

How's tricks? Do you juggle multiple projects? No way. I’m a one-at-a-time kinda gal – focused to completion.

What's harder: beginning, middle, or the end? End. No doubt.

Revisions: Love 'em or hate 'em?  Hate ‘em. Editing is the bane of my existence.

How did you come up with that title?  Best advice anybody ever gave you? Christmas Magic was the title given by Still Moments Publishing seeing as how it is their anthology call.

Best advice … I’ve heard tons. Just write. Git-R-Done. Even if the muse isn’t feeling it, sometimes you just have to force it. It eventually gets the juices flowing.

Fill in this blank: My ideal fictional hero would think me gorgeous no matter…

HA! I can’t write my first thought. Hmmm. If my hair is in the ‘dreaded bun’ or not. (Ongoing issue w/ me & the hubs.)

What's your favorite dessert? Oh, but there’s so many to choose from!! That molten lava cake from Chilis, Cannoli, pumpkin pie, blueberry custard pie … I could go on forever.

Do you write at home or someplace else? At home since I haven’t much choice with a 4 and almost 3 year old!

What's your favorite type of hero/heroine and why? Flawed. Real to life. Someone I can empathize with. Someone who is believable in their thought process and reactions.

Excerpt from Christmas Magic:

I rubbed my fussing son's back and stumbled down the hall to grab the phone.
          "Hello?"
          "Mrs. Douglas?"

A glance at the clock and my stomach clenched. Ronnie was an hour late for our Christmas Eve dinner. "Y-yes?"

          "There's been an accident."

Through Steven's heightened cries and the ringing in my ears I heard my husband's name and Anna Jacques hospital.
This isn't real. I need to wake up.
          "Mrs. Douglas?"

I swayed and slumped to my knees on the linoleum floor, struggling to keep Steven in my grasp.
The floor is cold. I'm not dreaming.

Oops! I meant I liked your excerpt, not except. Silly autocorrect phone feature! Or maybe it's user error. :)

The excerpt is great for drawing in the reader. I'm in awe of writers who produce stories with little ones to tend.
