@SloaneBCollins - How Do You Indulge? #notagirliegirl #indulgingmynails #plottingprincesses

Hi, everyone.  This is my first official post as a Plotting Princess, and I’m thrilled to be here.  I’ve been trying to decide what to write about instead of just talking about who I am, what I write (Contemporary Romance), etc. I came up with a subject that might be near and dear to many hearts.

I’m not much of a girlie-girl, but I like to indulge every so often.  I love shoes, but due to a knee injury, I’ve had to give up all my gorgeous heels and wear flats.  I adore handbags, but I pretty much use a tote bag. For my job, it’s all business clothes.  So how can I indulge in something that feels extravagant and not go broke?

Nail polish!  A few months ago I joined a “club” in which I get 3 nail polishes every month.  I adore trying the gorgeous new colors, and have stepped WAY outside my box with blues, silvers, purples, greens, metallics, glitters(!), and of course, my favorite: red.

I decided to get organized, and make a swatch sheet with all the colors, so now it’s easy to decide which to use.  I can go elegant, romantic, funky, sedate, or wild.

When I was through, the drawer looked like a treasure chest dripping with jewels.  Aren’t they pretty?  And the fact they’re in identical bottles makes my heart go pitty-pat.

How do you indulge your girlie-girlness?  Do you go all out, or pick one or two things to focus on?

Sloane B. Collins is busy writing in France...well, writing a story set in France.  You can find her first book in the French Kiss Connection series at Amazon.

oh my - my daughter would go nuts ! I'm such a boring nail polish person I stick with all variations of reds/ pinks with an occasional adventure into a beigy skin toned color LOL

The picture is just too cute. And the book cover is fabulous!

So glad to have you with us!

Chris, I used to stick with reds, taupes, and pinks. I love trying all the new colors - it's like jewelry for your fingers!
Thanks for the love!

Hi, girlie girl! I took a test and I'm a girlie girl, but I'm pretty tough ass, though. I do my toes, but not the fingers. You really need to reconsider handbags-she singsongs. lol

Love the organized bottles. But I have to admit I no longer do my own nails. Yes, I know I would save money by doing them myself, but for me my monthly manicure/pedicure is a treat. I go with some girl friends and while we're being pampered, we catch up on what's going on in each other's lives. It's a way for me to stay connected with non-writing friends and also a treat for myself. Occasionally I've been known to step out on the wild side and get an unusual color, but most of the time I still with the pinks/reds/corals.

Great first post and can't wait to read others.

Vicki, I would get in SO much trouble with handbags. Although some I've seen on your blog are ToDieFor! I love that Christmas one you showed recently.

wow. A girlie girl and so organized too. I love getting a mani pedi, but I don't do it very often, so I usually do my fingernails in a natural color so it won't show as readily when it starts to chip. I guess I'm more practical than girlie girl. Welcome to the PP!

I love the nail polish case! While I don't wear polish on my fingernails, I do on my toes in the summer. I like to find a color and then use it until it runs out. :) I'm cheap, what can I say?? lol!

You're right they are pretty. How fun! You made me look at nail polish differently.

I'm such a tomboy - I rarely have nails polished. But I do like art and love colors, so now I get it. It's art on your fingertips. :-)

What a lovely indulgence. You're truly a wise Princess.

Sooo not a girly girl either. I guess tops would be my indulgence. They range from striped tees to sparkly screen prints to dressy sweaters and tops. And at any one time I have at least 3 black tees in various styles. They are my staple. How boring is that!

I love the nail polish though. I'd be interested in what you joined. That OCD person in me loves that all the bottles match and are organized. Ha

So happy you joined the PP>

I love nail polish but usually too lazy to my nails as often as I'd like..guess it's my inner tomboy rebelling. The colors you have are amazing..what a fun collection. Thanks for joining the Princess team!!! Love the cover, looking forward to reading you.

Sylvia, I would love to get regular mani/pedis...but I put that expense toward BOOKS, author conferences, BOOKS!

Kat, you're right - art for your nails! I've been a scrapbooker since 1995. Alas, I don't have time for it now, so I use that creativity toward my nails.

Hi Sloane!

The one indulgence I do every once in a very great while, and that is artificial nails....maybe once a year.

I have ventured into glitter nail polish!

Pam, the website is www.julep.com. I think you can purchase products from them without joining...but I love the idea of getting a box o' beauty each month.

Most of my clothes are black - so easy to mix and match that way, especially when I'm rushing in the mornings!

Karla, so glad you like the cover! I adore it. I hope you like the book.

Phyllis, I've tried the glitter once. It was a shock for a day or so, then I loved how it sparkled. Very daring for me!

I also have had to give up cutsie shoes because of foot surgery. A couple of years ago I discovered solar nails with colored glittery tips. For Christmas I had 4 red fingers on each hand and one green one. For an old lady, I was pretty cool. Mostly, I wear a glittery mauve. My grandkids think I am the bomb!!

And welcome to your first blog as a Princess.

Dear Ms. Lipperman, I haven't tried the different color trend on 1 finger per hand yet, but I will.

And personally, I think you're da bomb, too!!!

Thank you for the welcome! Smooches.

I'm a tomboy from way back. My "writing" clothes consist of t-shirts, hoodies, and jeans. I rarely wear even my plain wedding band. Make-up is only if I'm leaving the house.
I'm hopeless when it comes to fingernail polish. I can chip any type in a matter of minutes. However, I indulge myself now with bright colors on my toes. I wore either purple or green at RWA in San Antonio.
Currently sporting bright blue and neon green. Go Seahawks!
