Vicki Batman: A Wacky Romantic Getaway-San Diego or Bust launch party!

Ever had a Wacky Romantic Getaway?

Launching:
San Diego or Bust!!!

Blurb: When a young woman plans a romantic getaway with her boyfriend, disaster strikes, and she finds her Mr. Right could be a different guy.

My boyfriend is a dirt wad. I just decided.
With a humpf, I dragged my pink tote up the narrow aisle to the plane's exit, accidentally banging it into the seats along the way. The relieving notion of being back home in Sommerville caused the tension in my chest to fade a smidgen.
A quick peek to the exit told me where Davis, my boyfriend, stood waiting for the okay from the ground crew to head out. His glance my way didn't look at all pleasant. Similar to one wrapped in disappointment with a downward tilt of his mouth.
          I didn't care much. I just decided.
The words creep, jerk, moron, and “why in the hell am I still dating him??” jumbled my thoughts around. My heart pounded as anxiety ratcheted inside me again.
Maybe I shouldn’t. Maybe I should not put up with him anymore.
The deepest part of me knew I shouldn’t be with Davis Griffith Swansea, III any longer. I was just in denial. Over the past year, I’d had brief, momentary twinges of dumping him; then, he’d go and do something incredibly romantic like bring me Godiva chocolates—“I know how you love these.” Or buy me a new book by my favorite author—“I happened to see this today.” Or whisk me off to an intimate dinner à deux at the latest and greatest bistro--"I know you'll like this place."
          My head had gone stupid.

And in honor of this day,

I have Giveaways!!!

An ebook of San Diego or Bust
& Michael Buble's new CD
& a $10 Amazon card

In the comments, say where you want to go for a romantic getaway and leave your email address for the drawing.

Congratulations on your launch day! Many happy sales to you!
I'd love a romantic getaway to Scotland but I'm guessing that's a little far for a getaway!
Closer to home, I'd love to go down to Corpus Christi and soak up the rays on the beach.

Congratulations on your release, Vicki. I can't wait to read this one. The excerpt was wonderful. I'd like to be on any desert Island in the Caribbean with my husband, frolicking in the surf.

sorry for this in the above post

I haven't been to San Diego in years and that was one time only. I think that's a great place for a romantic getaway because I love the mild weather and it's near where my favorite sister lives!

Hi, Sandie! I love Napa and Florence. Very good choices. Now, if only I could get Handsome to book...

Hi, Liese! You know, one year for Christmas, Handsome surprised me with a Valentine trip to Paris. It was so cold, but so cool.

Hi, Marika! And thank you for visiting on launch day. Yep, floating aimless, no agenda, cool drink in hand--nothing better, girl.

Hi, Jennifer! Thank you. I haven't been to Corpus since I was a kid. The beach is always fun. Just walking aimlessly, barefooted, stopping to pick up a shell...mmmmm.

Hi, Marian! Thank you so much, my cyber friend. I love walking on the beach and sloshing through the surf, letting the waves pound against my legs. Great idea!

Hi, Patti! San Diego is so nice with great weather and lots to see and do. How nice your sister is there. Thank you for partying with me today. ox

HAPPY RELEASE DAY!

i'd love a romantic getaway to a secluded spot on a Hawaiian Island, just sand, surf, and the one I love. Champagne and surf . . . what could be better?

Pamela Stone said...

A beach. Any beach. A leisure drive in a sexy convertible down the Pacific Coast Highway. Stop at Nepenthe's in Big Sur for hot chocolate. Or drive down A1A to Key West. Or Hawaii. Or... Well, you get the drift.

Vicki Batman, sassy writer said...

Hi, Kathy! Hi, Pam! I'm getting the drift from these posts that romantic getaway to the beach is a priority. Highway 1 is pretty spectacular. And anything in Hawaii is too. I don't have to have a special day to celebrate with champagne. LOL oxoxo

Who wouldn't love a little get-a-way! Just last year we ended a small romantic trip with a stop at a hotel with a hot tub in the room. We just weren't ready to come back! I'd love to go anywhere as long as Hubby was by my side!

Vicki Batman, sassy writer said...

Hi, Melissa! I know what you mean. Sometimes, Handsome and I get in the car and point it in a direction. We take off and drive for hours, stopping here and there, going down backroads, stopping at fruit stands and festivals. It truly is the best of times. Thank you for posting.

BTW, Michael is playing now.

Congrats on release day, Vicki. What a fun way to party. I'd go to the Maine Coast. We've been fortunate to stop there several times and every place is more spectacular than the one before.
Water does seem to a theme with these responses. Good luck with sales.

Vicki Batman, sassy writer said...

Hi, Marsha! I've never been to Maine, but from those who have gone, they love it. One of these days....

I'd love to go back to Caddo Lake in east Texas. It's in a town called Uncertain. Last time we were there, we watched from the restaurant window as some old-timers pulled up chairs to watch some other guys put up a fence. It might sound like a snooze-fest, but the slow pace was so relaxing!

Vicki Batman, sassy writer said...

Hi, Diane! I have the funniest story about Uncertain. I go to a holiday home tour every year near there. My girlfriends and I saw in the local paper a notice for a flea market in Uncertain. LOL You described the town perfectly.

And Uncertain got its name from packages marked: Deliver-Uncertain.

Happy Release Day!!!!!!!!!!

Gosh, I haven't thought of a romantic getaway in SO long, it's embarrassing! My romantic getaways nowadays consist of while cleaning out the garage, making sure our ten year-old is out of sight, and making out like we are teenagers. Honestly, that can be just as much as Paris, right?

My email addy is lavina80 (at) aol (dot) com

Vicki Batman, sassy writer said...

Hi, Lani! Wow, you must be doing some serious making out in that garage. LOL. I always say the kids should see the parents embracing, except for the X-rated stuff. Thanks for posting, sweetie.

What a fun, fun, book! You're such a fab story teller. You gots a gift, girlfriend.

Awww, my favorite place(s). London and Florence. That to me is the best of both worlds. Except...for home. I love SoCal bestest of all. Wherever I go, coming home is always like going someplace new, again...and again.

Big hugs and smooches and congratulations.

Vicki Batman, sassy writer said...

Hi, Karen! What a loverly surprise from an extra special friend. I loved Florence, too. I loved the whole Med cruise. The best part, having Handsome to travel with. Put the feet up, or explore a new place.

Thank you, sweetie, for all your support.

Cara Marsi said...

Congratulations on your new book! Can't wait to read it. For my romantic getaway, I want to go back to London.

Vicki Batman, sassy writer said...

Hi, Cara! London is as popular as the beach today. I haven't been, but would love to go. Maybe I should put a bug in Handsome's ear. lol Thanks, sweetie.

Vicki Batman, sassy writer said...

Hi, Sharon! I love going to D.C. and have never been fortunate enough to be there when the cherry trees are blooming. And lady, you picked a good hotel. Thanks, my friend.

Hi, Karilyn! You've hit the nail on the head--it's more about being with the one we love.

Hi, Teena! How loverly of you to join me for my launch party. And I've always heard nice things about the Poconos. I've never been. So you go and report back, will ya! Happy reading.

We never made it to our honeymoon. The car broke down, we went home and someone called with work and my new husband took the work because we had a car to fix.

I would love to go on a Cruise and spend the day on an island!!

Vicki Batman, sassy writer said...

Hi, Paty, and thank you for partying with me today. I love your story and that makes the beginning of your marriage extra special. But I'm guessing you want to have a romantic getaway and knowing you are a romance writer, you have some thoughts. So may one come true and you have the honeymoon you two wish for. Happy writing.

Hi, Josie! I love cruises. They are my #1 trip. Why? They go to lots of places, you only unpack and pack once, and someone cooks. The ultimate in getting away. Crossing fingers you get yours soon.
