Vicki Batman ~ Fall is in the air! Michelle Miles isn't the only crafty girl out there. lol

Fall is in the air!

Michelle Miles may be a crafting genius with her pumpkins; however, I am crafty sometimes, too.  I'd gone to the grocery store and thought I'd peruse the Halloween/Fall aisle cause—you never know. And lo and behold, something did catch my eye: a candy carrier. Since the boys are grown, I don't need candy sitting around because I'd buy chocolate (tried the caramel Milky Way yet??), and I'm like most red-blooded girls, I'll eat every freakin' piece so it isn't wasted.

For this door decoration, all I did was loop ribbon over the handle to hang from a tack on the top of my door. I tied a festive wire ribbon into a simple bow with florist wire, then wired it onto the handle of the candy carrier. Here's Ethel:

And here's Frank with a battery powered tea light inside:
I thought turned out rather cool. J And not long after Halloween is Thanksgiving. I love to decorate wreaths (hot glue guns rock!) and found this one with shades of fall leaves at a craft store. I tied a magnificent bow with streamers. Added springs of different colors of acorns, oak leaves, and magnolia leaves. Here you go:
I know you're saying "Vicki, Vicki, Vicki. I can't make that bow." Yes, you can. Wire ribbon is so much easier than the other stuff and easy to fluff to look new again. Don't be afraid. Here's a link on how to tie bows:

He makes the bow the same way I do. I go for more casual streamers.

Do you make Fall decorations? I'd love to see yours.

Vicki Batman is drinking the diet Coke with Splenda and shaking her head cause she has lots of new stuff coming soon: The Great Fruitcake Bake-off in December, Bug Stuff…and Other Stories in February, an essay, and finally, the big book: Temporarily Employed. If you like fun stuff, VB is your gal.

You are so talented! I can just about stick three flowers in a vase, and they don't look too awful.

Hi, Rayne! And glory be, woman, you have orchids. Orchids! I'm not good at that. What I think is we need to explore all kinds of creative sides of us because that feeds other creativity. What do you think?

Hugs.

Fun as usual, Vicki!

I tweeted this this morning, but forgot to comment. The Halloween decorations are cute, but the wreath is beautiful. You are very creative. Love the advice on bows and will go out and watch the video.

I always say I'm the least "craftiest" person on the planet but maybe I could do something like that. The other day my daughter told me about battery powered tea lights. I've gotta get some of those to put inside 99-cent plastic pumpkin carriers.

I love those pictures! I'm not very "art & craftsy" -- so, I admire people who are talented and creative.

Vicki, I've always admired those who were able to do crafts. My grandmother, aunt and sister are the ones in my family who were able to. Grandma and aunty are gone now, so I hope my sister passes her artistry on to someone.

Are you available to come on over and spruce up my doorways when you are done being crafty at your house?

What a cute idea. I feel like I'm ahead of the game when I remember to buy candy. :)

Thanks for the fun post.

Those are some fun candy baskets! I don't like to leave candy left alone, so I don't really need those much. My children always had big eyes and liked to use a pillowcase in case they got a big haul!

I love the wreath. I think my daughter got the artsy gene. She creates jewelry!

Did you say there was diet Coke with Splenda?

Well I tried to comment earlier but it wouldn't let me. I LOVE the wreath. All of this is super cute!

Hi, all! I tried to comment thru my phone and nothing. Technology is so great when it works.

Anyway, yes, Ms. Essex, I can help with the wreaths. Yes, Suzanne, there is diet coke with Splenda.

and for those who think they can't, you'd be amazed and what you can. Hugs.
